Working Out

http://www.nicholasmarus.com/index.php?page=comment&topic=125

<decription>So I did my first workout 2 days ago. I did 1.5 miles on the treadmill, then spent about 20minutes taking it easy on the weights, just to get the hang of everything. I must not of taken it easy enough, yesterday I was sore! I could barely lift my arms. All of this is confirming my thoughts on how badly out of shape I am. I just hope I have the will power to keep this up. So far so good, I did another mile last night (no weghts this time) but I'm only at day 3. My buddy Chris wants to run a 5k marathon, I dont know if I'll be up to that anytime soon. But it's something to work toward for sure. </decription>

<decription>In a few weeks I turn the big 3-0. I don't feel different.. much... I do feel way more conscious of my health and what I eat. I quit caffeine a few weeks ago and I have started a diet. I joined a gym today and am looking to make a change in the way I live. 6 months and I'll update. :)</decription>

Update

http://www.nicholasmarus.com/index.php?page=comment&topic=123

<decription>Been super busy lately. New job, studying for CCIE, and battling a cold. Good news is that the new job is going great. I could not ask for anything better. I'm getting into some high end stuff and it all always a challenge. I'm working with some good people.

Colin my son starts school this month. It seems like it was just a year ago he was a baby. Time flies. We've been playing Mario KArt for the Wii this weekend. It's amazing how fast he is picking that up. Soon he will be better than me. (ha) He just won a gold cup on the 50cc course all by himself.

I've been kicking up the studying fro the CCIE again. After nearly a year of hiatus, I am ready to tackle that again. I need to budget some money to get an update to my home lab and purchase some training from IPexpert. I am thinking of launching a blog separate from this one to discuss more technical things. I'd like to work in a few buddies of mine however. TC CD KM. Just not sure on the best medium for something collaborative yet. </decription>

Back in Raleigh

http://www.nicholasmarus.com/index.php?page=comment&topic=122

<decription>Back in Raleigh again and hopefully I am done here. I am working on about 10 hours of sleep over the last 3 days. That the way it goes sometimes. The Cisco Unity System I am working on is giving me some real trouble. The system rides atop exchange and the exchange box is suffering some severe issues with AD and the Information Store. I've been thinking a lot lately about starting a tech blog. I dont feel like putting all that here as I want to keep this more personal. Maybe some collaborative effort with a few of my buds will in order.

I hope to be heading back to ATL tomorrow and then maybe a few days off to recoup some sleep and get in some time on my motorcycle.</decription>

Cisco Schtuff

http://www.nicholasmarus.com/index.php?page=comment&topic=121

<decription>I'm in Raliegh NC this week. I drove up here like I have many times and I can say I feel the associated anxiety that I usually feel when driving here. I guess I have become conditioned to that... sort of like a real life example of Pavlov's dog.

I'm upgrading a Callmanager from 4.x to 6.x using Cisco DMA tool. I have only done this in a lab setup and I came here expecting the worse based on all the horror stories I've heard. 8hr's into the dma export last night, it failed, so I was not let down. I called TAC and they went through the usual, 123 diagnostics, right out of the manual I was following. I had just done all of that not 12 hours ago. Oddly enough it worked the second time with nothing really changing. Oh well... I guess TAC is right about checking the easy stuff first. Even if it is doing it a second time. God I hate when they are right. Next time, do it twice, then call TAC.</decription>

Have you been Rick Rolled?

http://www.nicholasmarus.com/index.php?page=comment&topic=118

 <decription>Have you been Rick Rolled?

From Wikipedia:

Rickrolling is a prank and Internet meme involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up" written and produced by Mike Stock, Matt Aitken, and Pete Waterman known as Stock Aitken Waterman. The meme is a classic bait and switch: a person provides a link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand, but the link actually takes the user to the Astley video. The URL can be masked or obfuscated in some manner so that the user cannot determine the true source of the link without clicking (and thus satisfying their curiosity). By extension, it can also mean playing the song loudly in public in order to be disruptive.[1] A person who falls for the prank is said to be "rickrolled".
